Cookie Policy

Last Updated: March 14, 2026

This Cookie Policy supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains how Coup B.V. (“we”, “us”) handles personal data more broadly. This page explains what cookies are, which categories we use, and how you can control your choices.

1. Who we are

The data controller for website cookies and similar technologies is Coup B.V., Professor Snijdersstraat 2, 2628 RA Delft, Netherlands. For questions about cookies or privacy, contact [email protected].

Coup B.V. provides innovation education, entrepreneurship training, and professional development programmes for learners and organisations across Canada. Our website is used to share programme information, enable enrolment requests, and provide learning resources.

2. What cookies are (and what “similar technologies” means)

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit a website. Cookies help websites remember preferences, maintain a session, and understand how pages are used. Some cookies are set by us (first-party cookies) and others are set by third parties whose tools we may use (third-party cookies).

We also use the term “similar technologies” to cover tools that operate like cookies, such as pixel tags and conversion tags. These are small snippets that can record events like a page view or a form completion. In some implementations, these tools may also collect device information (such as browser type and approximate location inferred from IP address) or store identifiers in cookies.

We do not use cookies to read data from your device that is unrelated to the website. We also do not place cookies for “decorative” reasons. Each category below has a defined purpose tied to basic site operation, measurement, or advertising.

3. Cookie lifespan and origin

Cookies are commonly described by (a) how long they last and (b) who sets them:

  • Session cookies expire when you close your browser or after a short period. They are typically used to keep the site working during a visit.
  • Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. They can remember preferences and support measurement over time.
  • First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting (this site).
  • Third-party cookies are set by a provider other than the website owner, usually for analytics or advertising measurement.

You can delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Doing so may also remove your saved cookie choices, meaning you may see the consent banner again.

4. Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into three categories. These categories are reflected in our cookie banner and preference panel.

4.1 Essential cookies (always active)

Essential cookies are required for the website to function and to maintain basic continuity and security. These cookies do not require consent under EU ePrivacy rules because they are strictly necessary for requested services, such as saving a consent preference and keeping a session stable.

Examples include a session identifier that helps with site continuity and a cookie that stores your cookie consent choice.

4.2 Analytics cookies (optional)

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the website—such as which pages are most visited, how long visitors spend on a page, and whether people reach the contact form. These insights help us improve content structure and navigation.

When enabled, we may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4). In a standard configuration, analytics relies on identifiers stored in cookies. We use analytics only with consent. If you do not consent, the website will still work.

4.3 Marketing cookies (optional)

Marketing cookies support advertising measurement and help us understand which campaigns lead to site visits and enquiries. They can also be used to build audiences for advertising platforms (for example, remarketing audiences) and to measure conversions. Marketing cookies are used only with consent.

When enabled, we may use tools such as Google Ads conversion tracking and Meta Pixel to record events like page views and form submissions. These tools typically use cookies and similar identifiers to connect an ad click with activity on the website.

Marketing cookies are never required to request information about our educational programmes. If you prefer, you can reject marketing cookies and still use all core website functions, including submitting a programme enquiry.

5. Cookie table

The table below lists cookies commonly associated with our categories. Some third-party cookies may be set only if you consent and only if the corresponding tools are enabled.

Name Purpose Category Type Retention
_site_session Site session continuity Essential First-party Session
cookie_consent Stores your consent choice Essential First-party 12 months
_ga GA4 user identifier Analytics Third-party 2 years
_ga_XXXXXXXXXX GA4 session state (GA4 property identifier) Analytics Third-party 2 years
_gcl_au Google Ads conversion linker Marketing Third-party 90 days
_fbp Meta Pixel browser identifier Marketing Third-party 90 days
_fbc Meta Pixel click identifier (set when click ID exists) Marketing Third-party 90 days

Note: the names and retention periods above reflect common defaults. Actual behaviour can vary by configuration and the policies of each provider. If a provider changes cookie behaviour, we will update this page when we become aware of the change.

6. Third-party providers

If analytics and/or marketing cookies are enabled, third-party providers may receive cookie identifiers and event information. Providers may process this information under their own privacy policies as our service providers or joint controllers depending on the tool and setting.

  • Google LLC (Google Analytics 4, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager where used)
  • Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel, conversion measurement)
  • Cloudflare (security and performance services where used)

We do not permit these providers to use site data for their own independent commercial purposes beyond providing the contracted services and any processing described in their official documentation and policies.

7. How to manage cookies

You can manage cookies in three ways:

  • Cookie preferences panel: use the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the website footer to reopen the cookie banner and adjust your choices.
  • Browser settings: most browsers allow you to delete cookies and block cookies. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site may not function.
  • Provider tools: some providers offer opt-out tools and ad preference settings (links below).

If you withdraw consent for analytics or marketing cookies, we will stop using those categories on future page loads. If third-party cookies have already been set, you can delete them via your browser settings.

8. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use, add or remove providers, or adjust our consent approach. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to highlight the update on the website. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently revised.
